“I am looking forward to expanding my skill set in this area of business and broadening the outreach I can have through sports in the future.”

With a major in Business Management, Carson decided to additionally pursue a minor in Sports Management as a way to stay close to the sports world, which he has been involved in for his entire life. Through his Sports Management minor, Carson hopes to further explore the intersection between finance and Sports Management, which combine his personal passions and interests. Within the Sports Management program, Carson appreciates the faculty, whom he describes as very passionate about both the content that they teach, as well as the wellbeing of their students. Within his Sports Management courses, he has found it very easy to be engaged in the material and learn quickly, and he feels comfortable asking his professors any questions that may arise. Through the program, Carson feels that he has gained skills in critical thinking and effective brainstorming, which are skills that he will benefit from in his future career within the business world. His Sports Management courses have also made him feel more determined and have helped him improve his work ethic. Additionally, Carson feels excited to be able to engage in learning outside of the classroom during J-Term, in which he will be participating in planning sporting events and promotional efforts. He says, “I think that this will grow my ability to plan and execute different sporting events but also operate at an executive level.” Outside of academics, Carson is also on the Gustavus Football Team and is involved with Gustavus Football Against Sexual Violence, and the Tau Psi Omega Fraternity.
