“The way you dig deeper into the meaning of sports and what truly classifies a sport is very mind opening and gives a new perspective to something you thought you knew a lot about. It made me think about sports and competition in a whole new way.”
Dylan Vilt knew he was going to be a sports management major as soon as the major was created at Gustavus in 2023. He has a passion for sports and an interest to pursue a career in the sports industry.
His classes have given him a holistic perspective and a broader understanding of sport beyond his initial interest in player development and team building.
Outside of the classroom, Dylan has had opportunities to gain career-related experiences. On campus, he works in the Sports Information Office managing the livestreaming of games and announces play-by-plays of various Gustavus competitions. He also has a Game-Day internship with the Minnesota Vikings and helps run fan service communications.
Beyond his work for his major, Dylan has gained extra experience working with Event Technical Services and serves on the Hill Crew Executive Board which promotes school spirit during at-home athletic events.
