Jessica Stadick writes on a whiteboard. What are your areas of research and teaching expertise?

Teaching Expertise= Acute Care: Medical Surgical Areas and Emergency Nursing.  Research Interests = Interprofessional Collaboration, Collaborative Competencies, Nursing Education, Critical Thinking in Nursing, anything related to acute care.

What is your teaching style?
Applicate Based and Contextual Style- bring the patient and content to the learning environment.  Problem solving , case studies, simulation, application activities that promote critical thinking and clinical reasoning.

Describe your “lightbulb moment.”

As a nursing student over 20 years ago, I often sat in class and wondered how education could be more hands on or application based, and since then it has been a goal of mine to teach nursing in that way.

What do you enjoy outside the classroom?

Spending time with family and friends, cabin and lake life, traveling, camping, hiking, being outside, reading, attending sporting events.

What tips do you have for student success? 

Study often by reviewing notes daily; hand write your notes, study distraction free by setting a timer and then allow distractions during your break time, watch additional videos to enhance learning, put the content into your own words, and ask questions.

To many to narrow it down! I love to read!

Advanced Medical Surgical Nursing

Where is your favorite place on campus/in St Peter?

Favorite Place on Campus is the Arb; in St. Peter my home!
