“The wide range of clinical experiences has been the favorite part of my of this program. They allow you to interact with a wide variety of patient populations through all aspects of life.”

Drawn to a major in Athletic Training due to the hands-on nature of course material, Bennett says “The ability to learn something upstairs in the classroom and utilize that in the same day down stairs in the ATR is special”. In the Health and Exercise Science Department, he has had opportunities to engage in many clinical experiences, during which he has been able to interact with a wide variety of patients. Bennett enjoys the faculty within the department, appreciating their care for students whether they are in the major or not. He says, “Every person involved in the Gustavus AT program is awesome. From professors to preceptors, they are all invested in making us future professionals in our practice”. Bennett appreciates that his professors allow students to take the lead while giving helpful advice, and he has gained valuable experience with many different athletes and patients. Overall, Bennett feels that the Health and Exercise Science Department has made him prepared for future educational opportunities, as well as his future career. Outside of the department, Bennett is also involved in Pre-PA club and Gustavus Athletic Training Association.
