“The faculty has supported me by providing step-by-step guidance and offering alternative options when needed.”
Lupe Olague has always had a love for sports and an interest in the medical field. She is interested in athletic training because she saw the need for trainers at many school athletic competitions while she was growing up.
The Health and Exercise Science Department is a fun environment, where you can build strong relationships while also learning. The opportunity to shadow a Gustavus athletic trainer helped her learn more about the profession and see how to apply the skills and knowledge she is learning in class. Lupe has developed a close bond with many of the faculty, who are supportive of her both academically and personally.
Besides her work in athletic training, Lupe is also part of the Campus Activities Board, American Cancer Society, President’s Council on Indigenous Relations, and a member of the Athletic Event Management staff.
